Like wandering nomads, the RT Games team has camped in just about every corner of Rooster Teeth’s massive campus. We started out in the hallway of Stage 5 between Animation, Live Action, and Events. It was fun being right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Rooster Teeth. I really enjoyed hearing all the various departments talk about their current projects. Such a great way to get introduced to the RT family and meet new friends in other depts. But it only took a couple of months before our team spilled out of the hallway and began oozing in all directions. We needed to find more space fast!
As luck would have it, Achievement Hunter was moving over to fancy, new digs in Stage 2 which left their old space empty. It suddenly became the hottest real estate in Stage 5! After some bribery and “favors” I don’t want to talk about – we finally got the approval to move into their old space. And boy was it refreshing! We could finally spread out and get down to business. ( I couldn’t find my pics of us working in the old AH space, so these pics will give you an idea)
We worked in the AH space for several months. In fact, it’s the office where we shipped RWBY:GE on Steam Early Access. I’m fairly certain the germs and odeur left behind from the AH guys is what helped our success. So much good energy packed into that room. I hated to leave it, but once again we got too big for our britches!
So off we went to a new home. This time in Stage 2, right next door to the Achievement Hunter crew. (Promise we’re not stalking those guys.) Our new space was even larger than before! We could run around hopped up on Mountain Dew and Twinkies. We could play sooper-stoopid-ball (story for another time). We had a comfy couch with all the gaming consoles and we even got a Vive to explore VR. It was the treehouse I always wanted!
But as they say, change is inevitable. Rooster Teeth saw the incredible growth of the Animation and Games team and decided it was time to build a new space to house us all together. A modern facility with plenty of space, power, and windows (we missed the sunshine). So once again, we packed up our toys and moved on down the road.
Backing up a bit… It took several months before the new space was ready. Here are some of the before shots during construction.
And here we are today. All settled in to our new space. It is AWESOME! Such a cool place to work with all the comforts you’d expect from a modern studio. Here are just a few pics of the RT Games area (courtesy of Andy Messner). The entire studio space is massive, so I’ll share more pics later.
Okay, hope you enjoyed hearing the story about our little journey through the bowels of Rooster Teeth. It’s been one helluva ride and we can’t wait for more. Bring it on 2017.
Until next time, friends. High fives!
